Erie Homes for Children and Adults  Kicks Off Annual Appeal, Goal $64,000

(ERIE, PA-November 1, 2009)--Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA) remains optimistic as it kicks off the Annual Appeal campaign with a goal of $64,000.

Honorary Chair Colleen Gildea, of PNC Bank, encourages the community to come together to support EHCA.  “During this recession and after the state funding cuts, it is even more important for the individuals in this community to join together to raise money this year,” she says.  “EHCA serves local families, who still need our support, even more so because of the economic situation we all face.  If we all do our part, then everyone will benefit.”

This year’s campaign is to collect donations for two funds: Project First Step/Doula and the School Age Program.  Project First Step/Doula provides prenatal services to expectant moms through a doula, a professional who has been trained to provide emotional and physical support to women during labor, delivery, and the post-partum process. The School Age Program is an inclusive after-school and summer day program for children aged five through eighteen with and without disabilities.  Healthy family relationships make our community stronger.

“I have been supporting EHCA for several years and am continually impressed by the dedication of this organization to the families it nurtures,” says Gildea.  “I invite you to join me in supporting this year’s Annual Appeal.”

To contribute to the campaign, donations made payable to, “Erie Homes for Children and Adults,” may be sent to EHCA at: 226 East 27th Street, Erie, PA 16504, in attention to “Annual Appeal.”

The mission of EHCA is to assist people with disabilities to live rich and fulfilling lives by providing quality, comprehensive and accessible residential and community-based services for children and adults with developmental disabilities throughout Erie, Crawford, Venango, and Potter counties.   Since 1912, EHCA has been caring for local individuals and striving to help everyone served reach their full potential.  For more information, visit www.ehca.org.
